San Bernardino, CA- Angels reliever Bobby Cassevah will begin his 2012 season with a rehab assignment pitching for the Inland Empire 66ers Friday as they continue their season opening series at Rancho Cucamonga. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PM with full coverage beginning at 6:55 PM on the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians Pregame Show on the 66ers flagship station, 1050 KCAA.
Cassevah is on the disabled list with right shoulder inflammation. The Florida native has pitched for the Angels each of the last two seasons as a reliever, holding a 2-3 lifetime major league record with a 2.87 ERA over 46 career appearances. It is the second time in his major league career he has had to go on the disabled list with a right shoulder injury (March-April 2011).
This will be Cassevah's first time pitching for the 66ers but not his first time in the California League. In 2008 he was a member of the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes where he went 2-3 with a 3.79 ERA in 44 appearances.
Inland Empire 66ers tickets are on sale now both at the 66ers box office and online at www.66ers.com. The 66ers will host rival High Desert Thursday April 12th to open the home schedule.
